Senior Finance Analyst Location: London Contract: Temporary (3 month initial) Rate: £450 Per Day Umbrella (PAYE Inc. £396.00, PAYE Exc. £353.35) Start date: ASAP *Hybrid Working* Contact: (url removed) Job Description Service Care Solutions are recruiting on behalf of a London-based local authority for a Senior Finance Analyst. This is a pivotal role providing high-level financial and accounting support to ensure effective budget monitoring, corporate accounting, and control arrangements. The successful candidate will offer strategic advice to senior management, challenge financial decisions where necessary, and lead initiatives to improve financial performance through unit costing exercises and value-for-money reviews. This position offers an opportunity to work closely with key stakeholders and contribute to the financial stability and growth of the local authority. Main responsibilities To provide specialist and senior financial and accounting support to the local authority linked to the budget monitoring of cooperate accounting and control arrangements. Provide high level advice on a broad range of financial queries linked to managerial objectives. To advise on and maintain appropriate financial control and to challenge senior managers. To carry out unit costing exercises and value for money reviews in order to improve financial performance. Candidate Requirements The ideal candidate will be CCAB qualified (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA) with expertise in Capital Accounting and a strong understanding of financial management. Leadership experience within a Local Authority is essential. You'll play a key role in strategic business decisions, ensuring financial implications, risks, and opportunities are carefully evaluated and aligned with the organisation's financial strategy. The candidate will be responsible for modernising and streamlining financial processes while ensuring strong financial control and efficiency in all operations. Experience in handling financial matters related to the Capital Programme, including Housing General Fund, Housing Revenue Account, and subsidiaries, is essential. Public sector experience is preferred.
