Are you ready to make an impact in a leading civil engineering and construction business? Careys Group is seeking a talented Group Financial Controller (FC) to join our team and strengthen our Accounting, Compliance, and Controls function.

As the Group Financial Controller, you will ensure robust accounting and financial reporting throughout Careys, maintaining a strong control environment and offering strategic insights to the management team. You'll lead statutory accounting, tax compliance, and audit coordination, and provide vital guidance on cash flow and working capital management. This role is instrumental in ensuring Careys' success as we adapt, flourish, and grow over the next three years.

What you will be doing:

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the production of statutory accounts and manage tax compliance.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring adherence to statutory requirements.
  • Oversee cash flow and working capital management, driving efficiency across the business.
  • Supervise the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll functions, fostering team development.
  • Lead the financial month-end cycle, focusing on strong controls and efficient processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement of finance processes and internal controls.


What you will be bring:

  • Degree-level educated and qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with a strong commercial mindset.
  • Proven experience leading a finance team and engaging with senior leaders.
  • Skilled in financial reporting, internal audits, and process optimization.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships across diverse teams.
  • Proactive and adaptable, with a mindset of continuous improvement.
  • Experience with COINS ERP system (desirable) and advanced Excel skills (essential).
