Fire & Security Role: Are you a Senior Project Manager working with on-site installation, support, and maintenance of specialist smart building technology?


Paying up to £95k

The ideal candidate would have:


Knowledge:

  • Understand the process of full project delivery from pre-construction through to handover, including changes to the design and materials, sample submittals, benchmarking each stage, quality checking, snagging, client/manufacturer testing parameters, witness testing, and accurate documentation and record keeping.
  • Understand what testing criteria is required for the installation by the Client, sometimes not aligned to Manufacturer’s warranty requirements, but could include off-site testing, fibre end-face testing, 100% testing of the installation, and % of witness testing by the Client.
  • Understand the environment in which the Company operates and thorough awareness of departmental impact on Company success.
  • Possess an understanding of the operational costs, profits, and commercial impact of actions and decisions to the business.
  • Understand the types of health and safety risk that could be incurred whilst carrying out cable installation tasks, who might be affected by the risk, and what actions can be taken to mitigate the risk.
  • Aware of legislative requirements under the Working at Height regulations, including personal competence and inspection regimes, with particular relevance to the need for PASMA training and certification.
  • Familiar with the concept of the ‘internet of things’ (IoT) and the effects of emerging technologies on media selection, installation practices and additional testing requirements.
  • Understand the need to maintain accurate documentation and the depth of information required for successful completion and handover to the customer.

Skills:

  • Strong MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, Project etc.) and general IT skills.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, in order to communicate effectively with colleagues and key stakeholders in the customer’s organisation.
  • Ability to produce and implement Project Programmes, understanding the importance of working to deadlines and to budget.
  • Benchmark the installation throughout the project, ensuring the quality is maintained throughout the installation.
  • Proficient in different types of testing equipment incl. Fluke/OTDR/etc., capable of downloading test results into Cable Management Software and presenting them in handover records in PDF format.
  • Strong commercial awareness, understanding of bid analysis, financial breakdown, and presentation of numbers.
  • Ability to create site-specific RAMS and on-site Health and Safety requirements, reviewing these on a regular basis to ensure any changes are captured.

Qualifications:


Essential:

  • ECS Card
  • SMSTS
  • Full, clean Driving Licence.


Desirable:

  • PRINCE2, APM, CTPM (Project Management Certification)
  • Minimum 5 A*-C GCSE's, including Maths and English.
  • First Aid
  • IPAF or PASMA.
  • PAT testing
  • Experience
  • Essential
  • At least 5 years relevant practical experience in a similar role.
  • Management of systems or structured cabling projects.


Also desirable:

  • Familiar with containment installation, different types, environments, and uses.
  • Awareness of Audio Visual, Electronic Security, IoT, and Wired & Wireless Network architecture.


About the role:

As a Project Manager, you will be based within our Design and Build Team, responsible for the full project lifecycle, from bid stage through to project handover. You will oversee the on-site installation, support, and maintenance of specialist smart building technology across a number of well-established Client sites. You will have strong track record in managing systems projects. My client delivers smart technologies including, Security Systems, Passive and Active Network Solutions, Audio-Visual, IoT and Wired, Wireless & Mobile Networks. You will have full P&L responsibility for the projects including planning and progress management and completing the projects on time and on budget. You will be an excellent communicator both written and verbal inspiring your team and building confidence in external stakeholders including clients, subcontractors, other trade contractors and designers.


You will provide leadership for the team and oversee design, installation, testing and commissioning and commercial and contractual aspects of the project.
