Reporting to the Team Manager, we actively support you in developing Leadership, Training and Mentoring. As an Advanced Practitioner, you will be supported to develop and support ASYEs and students on placements. We are a Locality Team that is incredibly supportive and understand the pressures and demands when working in social care. We have regular team meetings, and our aim is to offer our children and families a high quality service by ensuring our practice standards are high through regular audits and performance meetings. Advanced Practitioners have limited caseloads in order to allow them to assist in the development of our less experienced staff.Training is provided for all social workers and new members joining the team, alongside monthly supervision and Personal Development Plans. We aim to support the Continuing Professional Development of all staff within the council. This is what our social workers say about Doncaster ..I have been a child protection social worker since I qualified in 2008. I have worked for Doncaster since 2018. I have only ever worked in child protection. Whilst this area of work is very challenging, I enjoy the contact with the families I support and the consistency that this offers to them. The job has changed a lot over the years and had become busier and busier. This presents more challenges to us as social workers. Ever since COVID hit us in 2021, how we practise as social worker has changed and evolved. It is a very difficult job to do and one that is not to be taken lightly. We are after all dealing with peoples lives and making differences to lives in both a positive and negative way although families do not always see it like that. One of the best parts of my job and what keeps me going the most, is the people that I work with and the support they can offer on a daily basis. Coupled with that, having a supportive, kind and understanding manager makes your day that bit easier. We are offered supervision on a monthly basis, but this does not mean that the managers cant be approached in the interim if required. The team as a whole share good banter and are safe people with whom to off load and share the difficulties of visits with. Peer supervision is a bit part of the job.It is good to know that when pieces of work are completed and deemed to be of a good standard, these are often shared with higher management and you may receive praise either via email or in person acknowledging the hard work and effort. It is always good to know that hard work does not go unmissed by senior management and will often give you a boost.I never saw myself as an ambitious social worker and someone who wanted to progress. I was always happy to work hard and work through my to do list and start again the next day. However in 2022, I was given the opportunity to step up after interview in to the role of a temporary Advanced Practitioner. This lit a spark in me that I did not know existed. This enabled me to support social workers, offer advice and essentially share my experiences with them as and when required. I am 15 years qualified after all so surely I have some knowledge to impart!!!!We are looking for an Advanced Practitioner who is enthusiastic and can support the Team Manager to drive and nurture performance in a supportive environment whilst being a part of our journey. In return for your hard work and dedication, we can offer you the chance to be part of a great team dedicated to ensuring that all people in Doncaster thrive.
