Job DescriptionThe Commercial Accountant will be responsible for:Overseeing the financial aspects of our manufacturing operations, including cost accounting, inventory management, budgeting, and financial analysis. Driving the financial success of our projects through close collaboration with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholdersThe ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a thorough understanding of manufacturing and project accounting principles, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. In addition, they will be commercially astute.This is a broad role and therefore on the job training will and can be provided for any knowledge / experience gaps.Key Responsibilities:Perform cost accounting activities, including the analysis of production costs, material costs, labour costs, and overhead costs.Business Partner with the Project Teams to ensure project revenue, costs, cash inflows or outflows are accurately captured and reported.Assist with the preparation of project cashflow forecasts, reports and analysis of business activity for input to weekly and monthly group forecasts.Attend regular project reviews and ensure estimated cost to go is in line with project schedule and challenge any deviations to cost budget baselines or where cost to go does not support project schedule. Ensure Costs to Go, actual costs and EAC are correctly and accurately reported in EAC sheets and the project dashboard.Presentation of the financial status of project at project reviews.Correct set up of projects within the IFS ERP system and any support systems at inception of each project, including correct allocation of Cost Baseline Budgets, Margins, Revenue and cash plans in line with approved budgetAssist in the development and maintenance of budgets and forecasts for manufacturing activities.Conduct variance analysis to identify and explain discrepancies between actual and budgeted costs.Collaborate with production and engineering teams to ensure accurate cost tracking and reporting.Monitor and report on key financial metrics and performance indicators related to manufacturing.Support month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.Participate in internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvements within the manufacturing operations.Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and documentation.Any other reasonable dutiesQualifications Qualified AccountantMinimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience, preferably in the manufacturing industry.Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and practices.Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems, ideally IFSAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.Additional InformationThe Package:Competitive base salaryCompany pension33 days holiday (pro rata)Life AssuranceL&D opportunitiesIf you experience difficulties or are unable to apply for a role on-line please contact us at [email protected] and one of the team will be in contact to help you.
