A Sporting Manager will supports the championship, the teams, the Governing body and the race director with daily and race weekend sporting matters.
You will help to review, implement and improve the rules & regulations for the teams, the championship. Leveraging your experience in sports events and/or motor sport, the Sporting Manager will efficiently organise regulatory processes and optimise sporting operations to meet the objectives.
Responsibilities
- Review the processes used by the Race Control and Teams, including defining and monitoring the specifications for key suppliers, such as timing, race direction software and radio communications.
- Review, maintain and monitor the Rules & Regulations and Sporting format in alignment with strategic objectives, employing a project management-based approach and organising consultations with the Teams.
- Be in constant contact with Teams between and during the events while attending Team Principal meetings.
- Provide a detailed report after each event, ensuring the quality and timeliness of deliverables.
- Support the recruitment and training of pilots in collaboration with the academy lead, including profile identification and roadmap development.
- To investigate serious accidents and, together with the Race Director, make recommendations if necessary, to improve Risk Management procedures at venues, events and/or to safety equipment/boats.
- Work alongside the Technical team to make improvements to the Sporting format.
- Monitor Spare parts management and distribution to teams, alongside the Technical team and Seabird.
- Manage the implementation of a future prize money pool for team
- An effective project manager manages these situations by a right combination of listening skills, communication skills and forecasting skills.
- The Sporting Manager will report to the Chief Executive and liaise closely with other departmental directors to ensure the implementation of the Sporting format.
Person Profile
- An understanding and appreciation of watersports/motorsport on many different levels specifically.
- You will be a self-starter, capable of working autonomously.
- You must have highly qualified technical knowledge of watersports/motorsport.
- A proven track record of managing/directing the teams with a wide range of different
activities.
- You must be highly methodical and well organised.
- We operate in a fast-moving world and you will be expected to keep abreast of the
environment, thinking on your feet, and applying yourself accordingly.
- You must have a full, clean driving licence.
- Stress Resilience and Diplomacy: Ability to thrive under pressure and display diplomacy in dealings.
- Attention to Detail and Confidentiality: Strong commitment to detail and confidentiality
- Fluent English: Proficiency in both written and spoken English is mandatory.
- While the majority of the role is office based, however you will be required to travel including work during holidays and weekends.
