Are you a passionate communications professional driven to make a meaningful impact in the not-for-profit sector? We’ve partnered exclusively with a mission-driven not-for-profit organisation based in Cambridge, who are leaders in the field of language education, and are now seeking a dedicated Communications Officer to join the team. This is a hybrid position, you'll be expected in the Cambridge office twice per week. The organisation focusses on creating opportunities, changing lives, and overcoming exclusion through language education. They’re delivering this vision through two different strategic programmes, targeting children with English as an Additional Language (EAL), and adults who speak English as a Second or Additional Language (ESOL). The aim is to achieve system change to enable better outcomes for many vulnerable groups who use English as an additional language. As Communications Officer you’ll support the implementation of the Communications Strategy, which is strongly underpinned by efforts to put a face to training and policy influencing work. Your focus will be on expanding audience reach and engagement, supporting media relations, and producing tailored content related to policy and influencing work. Key duties include managing stakeholder mapping, overseeing media and communication projects, and creating content for social media and other platforms as well as coordinating events like roundtables, monitoring media coverage, and ensuring all communications align with brand guidelines and is accessible. Experience of working in a comparable role with a proven track record of successful communications across a wide range of disciplines and platforms. Experience delivering communications to influence policy at local, regional and national level. Experience of evaluating and analysing the impact of communications, identifying opportunities, and making and implementing recommendations. Experience of maintaining effective digital systems including Content and Customer Management Systems (CRM and CMS), email marketing and online platforms (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIN, Eventbrite, Mailchimp). Experience of project management. Experience of day-to-day relationship management with external partners and suppliers, and communications budgets. Personal skills/qualities Excellent written communication skills, including writing content for different media (website, press releases, emails to key stakeholders). Excellent verbal communication skills in order to present compelling and persuasive cases to,, external stakeholders, team members, the senior management team and Trustees. Proactive, solution-focussed, innovative and self-motivated individual with a can-do attitude, able to think laterally and creatively about opportunities and projects. Excellent numerical skills with the ability to understand and and analyse data.
