Drama Teacher January Start MPS/UPS Harrow Permanent Purpose of the post: To work as a member of the Drama Department, seeking to raise standards through effective curriculum delivery in these areas. Roles and Responsibilities: To teach Drama throughout the school in KS3 and KS4. To develop innovative, traditional and non-traditional approaches to the Drama curriculum in order to ensure appropriate access and achievement for all students. To teach using a variety of delivery methods which will stimulate learning, meeting the demands of the curriculum and the needs of the students. To assist in the development and deployment of resources as appropriate. To plan and prepare courses and lessons. To assess, record and report on the attainment, attendance and progress of students keeping such records as required. To monitor and record student progress according to the schools assessment policy. To maintain discipline in accordance with the schools procedures and encourage good practice with regard to punctuality, behaviour and standards of work. To set, mark and record homework according to the homework timetable. To assess students work in line with schools policies and procedures referring to student performance targets. To provide pastoral support to students with special educational needs. To be involved in running extracurricular Drama activities, such as the Whole School Production (including rehearsals after school) and trips to the theatre. To run intervention if required. To teach some lessons in our primary school within the MAT if required. Experience: To understand the requirements of the National Curriculum for Drama To have teaching experience in a culturally diverse secondary school To have experience of working with mixed ability students Qualifications and Training: To have a Degree in a relevant subject To be a qualified Teacher of Drama (PGCE or equivalent) or training for QTS Knowledge and Skills: To be aware of the demands of GCSE English Language/Literature To have excellent literacy skills, including proficiency in accurate written and spoken English To have good numeracy skills (e.g. GCSE Mathematics) To have excellent communication skills (both oral and in writing) the ability to make points clearly and confidently, providing information and advice in accurate spoken English, and able to understand the views of others If you are actively looking to secure a Drama Teacher post this January, do not delay this is an opportunity NOT TO BE MISSED.
