Transport Administrator / Transport Planner Excel Industrial are currently seeking a highly organized and proactive Transport Administrator / Transport Planner to join the team at Ellesmere Port. Role Overview: As a Transport Planner, you will be an integral part of the transport allocation team. Your main responsibility will be to assist with load building, driver allocation, and daily traffic management. You will play a key role in ensuring deliveries are completed on time, while optimizing driver utilization and adhering to legal requirements. Key Responsibilities: * Coordinate the most efficient use of drivers through daily contact and updates in the Vision system to improve driver utilization. * Maximize drivers’ available hours while ensuring compliance with working time legislation. * Monitor and manage driver performance, addressing inefficiencies and escalating productivity concerns to the Allocation Team Leader. * Communicate with the helpdesk team regarding any likely failed or delayed deliveries. * Monitor driver adherence to best practices using vehicle tracking systems. * Collaborate with the wider team to agree on daily priorities and adjust driver patterns to meet delivery volume and lead time requirements. * Resolve driver delays in coordination with collection point handling agents and delivery customers. * Ensure drivers are kept informed of their workloads and expected achievement timescales. * Plan driver schedules to align with maintenance requirements and compliance standards. * Minimize driver downtime and ensure that all allocated loads are fully utilized. * Reduce empty mileage by optimizing driver routes. * Ensure real-time updates are provided on driver dispatches and deliveries through Vision. Person Specification: The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications: * Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades A-C, including English and Maths. * Experience in Driver Liaison, Traffic Planning, Allocation, or a similar role. * Proven experience in dealing with internal and external customers. * Strong knowledge of UK geography and a solid understanding of drivers’ working time legislation. * Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
