Scope: UrbanChain is a pioneering cleantech company on a mission to create local community energy via our proprietary peer-to-peer platform and algo matching process. UrbanChain is building a team of passionate individuals who are dedicated to making a positive impact through innovative technological solutions. Reporting directly to the CRO and acting as a key Business Partner to the commercial teams, this is a portfolio-wide position which aims to ensure UC is able to on-board customers and commercial partners in a safe and secure manner and also operate within our regulatory requirements. The objective of the role is to support the commercial team in on-boarding and reviewing customers whilst mitigating risks associated with Urban Chain’s fiduciary and regulatory responsibilities in this sensitive aspect of the energy value chain.
Coverage: This role primarily covers all KYC and compliance requirements arising out of UC’s core commercial activities of the UK portfolio. The role may also be required to implement and support KYC requirements for central financing activities and also vendors used in the Technology division.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake customer due diligence checks to ensure adherence to UC’s KYC policy, procedures, and regulatory framework (such as AML/KYC regulations)
- Work closely with key stakeholders (Business, Legal, Operations, Risk, Finance) to enable a seamless front to back onboarding and assist with the establishment of new customer relationships to facilitate business growth
- Work closely with Commercial and Legal to implement new regulations and lead the development of new policies and procedures to reflect changing regulatory requirements
- Timely escalation of any questions or concerns around obtaining requirements in order to fulfil our regulatory obligations
- Assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of compliance policies, procedures and internal controls that comply with all relevant standards
- Advise on the Compliance requirements for new business development initiative
