Locum Information Governance Officer with a Local Authority in the Midlands Working arrangement: Remote working Contract Type: Full-time (part-time applicants considered) Hourly Rate: Dependent on experience Contract Length: Initial 3-month contract, with likelihood of extension Start Date: As soon as possible (reasonable notice will be considered) An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Locum Information Governance Officer to join a Local Authority on a remote basis. This is a critical role in ensuring the council adheres to best practices in data protection and information governance . Key Responsibilities: Managing and responding to FOI (Freedom of Information) requests and Subject Access Requests (SARs) . Overseeing Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and providing advice on compliance with data protection legislation. Offering general guidance and support on information governance issues across the council’s departments. Working collaboratively with internal teams to ensure data handling processes meet legal and regulatory standards. About You: Experience in information governance and data protection within the public sector, ideally within a local authority context. Knowledge of FOI, GDPR, SARs, and DPIA processes. Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality results within deadlines. Available to start ASAP or within a reasonable notice period. This role offers the flexibility of fully remote working and the potential for extension beyond the initial 3 months.
