About the job: pawaTech Group is looking for a Group Finance Risk Manager with a strong background in financial crime investigation with an inherent passion for teamwork, a collaborative spirit, and a forensic mindset. As a Group Finance Risk Manager, you will ensure the integrity and efficiency of our financial operations, by designing and delivering a programme focused on identifying and preventing internal payment risk, with an emphasis on process improvement through adherence to policies and procedures. You will also forensically interrogate and report on payment activity across the Group on a regular basis, ensuring compliance and suggesting practical improvements. The main responsibilities will be: Design and implement a programme to identify and prevent internal payment fraud and risk; Focus on process improvement and adherence to policies and procedures; Establish a regular reporting cadence to analyse and report on payment activity; Identifying and investigating suspicious transactions; Conduct internal audits of standard operating procedures, identifying gaps and recommending improvements; Work with legal, compliance, and other teams to ensure a coordinated approach to managing financial crime risk; Review and ensure the adequacy of KYC documentation and independence in decision-making; Support the development of best practices within the Group finance team to enhance governance and manage risk; Facilitate the periodic review and development of Group finance process documentation and financial reporting. Key skills and experience for this role: Bachelor's or postgraduate degree in Finance, Law, Accounting, or a related field; Minimum 5 years experience in financial crime investigation, forensic accounting, or a similar role; Experience presenting findings to ExCo, CEO, Board, and external auditors; Strong understanding of best practice accounting controls and processes; Preferable experience with Xero accounting software and automation tools for data analysis; Proactive mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work semi-autonomously; Excellent documentation skills, particularly in drafting and refining process guidelines; Ability to speak and read French is desirable; Experience working in or exposure to Africa is desirable; Attention to detail with a strong curiosity and tenacity to investigate thoroughly; Commitment to ensuring accountability with established processes.
