Production Operative roles - Bury The Cormar Carpet Company is an award-winning, British, family-run business and has been making carpets since 1956 at our two mills in Lancashire. We make and deliver our carpets from our distribution sites in Hemel Hempstead and Bury to over 3,000 Cormar retailers across the UK and Ireland, using our own fleet of vehicles. We've won over fifty carpet and flooring industry awards, including being voted "Best Carpet Manufacturer 2022" by readers of Interiors Monthly and F1 "Carpet Supplier of The Year" for 13 consecutive years. Main Duties: Contribute to the effective running of Cormar's tufting operation. Daily duties include yarn creeling, splicing, and other duties as from time to time directed by the Operations Supervisors / Line Manager. This may include but not be limited to recycling, baling, general housekeeping, running the yarn winding machines, yarn stripping machines, etc. Job Involves: Mobility for full shift, bending, lifting moderate weights, repeatedly twisting, climbing up and down steps repeatedly. Operating basic machinery such as winders, floor cleaners, yarn stripping machines but not Tufting machines. Key Responsibilities: * Contribute to the achievement of organisation and department goals and targets through completion of daily duties to required standards/measures * Ensure the targeted performance/completion times for creeling and splicing are measured * Ensure product quality is to required standards * Flexibly to cover team and other duties as required * Maintain agreed house-keeping standards Team Cormar: * Participate in and make a positive contribution to Project Teams * Adhere to and promote the Cormar Values * Demonstrate attitudes and behaviours which make a positive contribution to the team, department and company * Consider safety in all aspects of work, adhere to site and department safety rules and report all instances of concern Other: * Contribute to company improvement initiatives (eg. MSQ surveys, culture surveys) * Understand how own role impacts on the organisation and department objectives * Support the Operations Supervisor to deliver the above objectives Ideal Skills / Qualifications: * Ability to communicate effectively within the team and in the wider organisation * Knowledge of how the department works and how it fits in with the rest of the organisation * Ability to work to agreed deadlines Hours per week: * 48 hours per week, 12 hour shifts, rotating every 4 weeks (plus reasonable overtime as required) . Sun-Weds 7pm-7am. Mon-Thurs 7pm-7am.
