SEMH Teaching Assistant - MS Secondary School - Hackney Start Date: September 2024Contract: Full-time (5 days a week)Salary: £85 - £90 PAYE Job Description:We are seeking dedicated and compassionate SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Teaching Assistants to join our vibrant mainstream secondary school in Hackney. This is a full-time role, starting in September 2024, where you will play a pivotal part in supporting students who have been affected by mental health issues or display challenging, anti-social behavior.Key Responsibilities: Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs. Assist teachers in creating an inclusive learning environment that caters to the emotional and academic needs of all students. Implement and support individualized learning plans and behavioral strategies. Foster positive relationships with students, helping them to develop coping strategies, resilience, and social skills. Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to student support. Monitor and report on student progress, adjusting support plans as necessary. Encourage positive behavior and promote the well-being and mental health of all students.Essential Requirements: Previous experience working with secondary school students, particularly those with SEMH needs. A solid understanding of the challenges faced by students with mental health issues or those affected by anti-social behavior. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong, supportive relationships with students, staff, and parents. Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with young people. Ability to manage challenging behavior in a calm and professional manner. Relevant qualifications or training in education, mental health, or youth work (desirable but not essential).Why Join Us?
