Job Title - Quantity Surveyor
Company Overview: A blue chip national contractor with an excellent reputation of delivering a diverse portfolio of projects.
Projects include some (but not all) Hotels, Offices, mixed-use developments, Industrial, Residential communities, Retail spaces, Education, Distribution and logistics centres,
The role Ensuring timely and accurate procurement and preparation of Sub-Contracts, fully addressing contractual, operational, and HSEQ requirements. Proactively overseeing financial management activities, including risk and opportunity assessment, internal cost budgeting and reporting, and administering contractual mechanisms related to payments, notices, and final accounts. Contributing to the development of Main Contract Documents, such as Contractor’s Proposals and Employer’s Requirements. Supporting the development and maintenance of strong relationships with key project stakeholders, including clients, employers, funders, consultants, and supply chain partners. Collaborating closely and proactively with internal teams, such as the Operational, Design Management, and HSEQ departments. Executing core financial management tasks for projects, including risk and opportunity assessment, internal cost budgeting, reporting, and management of contractual obligations like payments, notices, and final accounts.
Key Responsibilities: Conduct weekly site measurements and maintain effective site liaison for accurate records of events. Cost estimation and submission of variations. Ensure all commercial registers are meticulously maintained and up to date. Implement value management and exercise cost control measures. Facilitate payments and assess completed work valuations. Review and approve subcontractor payments. Oversee projects through to successful completion, assuming responsibility for their delivery. Handle subcontract payments, variations, and final accounts. Prepare and submit Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs) and all financial reporting. Develop cost-to-complete forecasts and manage cash flow and turnover projections.
Essential Candidate Requirements: Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor on similar projects, preferably within housing construction as a contractor. Proficient numeracy and financial management skills, with the ability to adapt to sophisticated design and costing IT packages. Strong negotiation, team-working, and leadership abilities to motivate on-site personnel. Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
