Principal Data Platform EngineerLocation: LondonAbout the Role: As a Principal Data Platform Engineer, you’ll be responsible for designing and integrating modern data technologies, leading the migration to Snowflake, and driving the development of a data platform. Your work will support critical data engineering and data science initiatives, enabling better access to and use of data across the company.Key Responsibilities:Design and implement scalable data solutions, integrating various data technologies.Lead the migration to Snowflake, optimising performance and ensuring seamless integration with enterprise systems.Develop and manage end-to-end data pipelines to support smooth data flow and storage.Collaborate with engineering and product teams to deliver cross-functional projects and streamline processes.Drive the adoption of a data mesh framework, enhancing the organization’s ability to use data more effectively.Participate in agile methodologies, contributing to continuous improvement in all aspects of data platform engineering.Required Technical Skills:Strong coding skills in Python and SQL.Proficiency in Snowflake, including query optimisation and performance tuning.Hands-on experience with cloud platforms like Azure or AWS.Knowledge of tools such as DBT, Airflow, GraphQL, and Collibra.Familiarity with distributed systems, APIs, and cloud computing architectures.Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and infrastructure as code.A collaborative mindset, with the ability to mentor and support team members.A proactive, problem-solving approach, focused on continuous improvement.This is a unique opportunity to lead transformational projects within a global financial organisation.
