hSo is a well-established player in the managed IT solutions industry bringing together best of breed voice and IT solutions to private and public sector business clients in the UK. We are looking to recruit a Head of Sales to win new sales accounts and develop customers across our portfolio of solutions. You will need to be enthusiastic, innovative and hardworking.
The Head of Sales, reporting to the Managing Director, is the line manager for the sales team; enterprise, public sector, channel and wholesale.
The role encompasses day-to-day man management for personnel matters, driving the sales activity to achieve the business targets for new business and account retention and reporting to hSo senior management. The role will also require a significant element of new business generation and major account management. The role requires an experienced sales professional with the ability to motivate sales personnel and coordinate with other departments.
Overview of focus:
· Customer Acquisition : A proven track record of acquiring new clients.
Identify, target, and acquire new business customers in need of complex technology solutions (e.g., digital transformation, cloud services, IT infrastructure, AI solutions, cybersecurity).
· Sales Strategy : Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy to generate leads, build relationships, and close new deals with high-value customers.
· Consultative Selling : Understand customer pain points, business needs, and technology environments. Provide consultative sales approaches that align technical solutions with customer objectives.
The ideal candidate will have experience selling sophisticated technical products and services, excellent communication skills, and a strong ability to navigate complex decision-making processes within organizations – and naturally leading teams to deliver.
Key Responsibilities
Manage team performance
continually monitor and review individuals performance
assist team members with sales strategy and tactics, overall and for individual opportunities
respond to team member requests for advice & assistance
bi-weekly review of individual pipeline development
regularly accompany team members on customer visits
provide support on technical queries
organise team and individual training as appropriate
conduct formal annual performance reviews
conduct recruitment as necessary
driving team through setting targets/KPIs both financial and "values" and driving change through training and mentoring to focus on growth and margin
System administration
arrange training for new personnel on internal systems
ensure CRM accuracy
ensure ISO process compliance
Liaison with other departments
liaise with marketing to discuss new services and arrange training
liaise with marketing on campaigns
if required escalate issues to service delivery and support on behalf of sales team
Day to day sales team personnel management
review and approve ‘leave’ and ‘work from home’ requests
review proposals prior to submission – especially for public sector and new team members
review and approve monthly sales commission claims
review and approve monthly expense claims
be there to hear any personal matters as requested
be aware of personal issues that may affect work
Own sales activity
generate own business appointments
frequent targeted industry events
develop new business accounts
manage the relationship with own major accounts
negotiating the successful closure of business
generate a sales pipeline for the company
work towards achieving/excelling targets set
Represent sales internally / externally
at board and management meetings as required
at ISO audits
Front customer interaction in (legal) disputes as required and guided by senior management
Essential Skills
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
2-3 years sales team management
proven track record in IT sales including experience of the following services:
Microsoft Solutions (Modern Workplace, Security, Business Transformation, Cloud Services, Managed Services)
leased line data connectivity
analogue & IP voice solutions
cloud service provider connectivity
public and private cloud services
datacentre interconnect/IP transit
