Business Development Manager - Foodservice & Retail

Location: Manchester

3-4 days office based and 1-2 days meeting customers

Job Overview:

As a Business Development Manager, you will play a critical role in driving business growth across both the Retail and Foodservice channels. Your primary focus will be on identifying and securing new business opportunities, building strong relationships with key stakeholders, and expanding market share. This is a highly strategic role that requires a deep understanding of the FMCG sector, particularly within Retail and Foodservice environments.


Key Responsibilities


New Business Development:

  • Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities across Retail and Foodservice channels.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to drive growth and meet sales targets.
  • Conduct market research to identify potential clients and understand market trends.


Account Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, ensuring their needs are met and opportunities for upselling are maximized.
  • Develop tailored business proposals and negotiate contracts with prospective clients.


Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with internal teams including Product Development, and Supply Chain to ensure seamless execution of sales proposals.
  • Provide feedback on product performance and market demands to inform future product development.


Reporting & Analysis:

  • Prepare regular reports on business development activities, sales performance, and market trends for senior management.
  • Monitor and report on competitors’ activities and market conditions.


Experience and Qualifications required:

  • Proven track record in business development, with a focus on securing new business.
  • Significant experience in the FMCG industry, particularly within Retail and Foodservice sectors.
  • Strong negotiation and closing skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field is preferred.
