Database Administrator (DBA)

Location: London, Fenchurch Street (up to 3 days a week Onsite)

Contract Duration: Until 31st December 2024 (with likely extension into 2025)

Rate: £450-550 (Inside IR35)


Job Overview:

Venturi is seeking a Database Administrator (DBA) with extensive experience in IT Managed Services to support an Insurance client.

The successful candidate will work onsite at Fenchurch Street offices up to 3 days per week.

This role will focus on maintaining the performance, availability, and integrity of various databases, with a strong emphasis on Microsoft SQL Server.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and optimize database performance using Structured Query Language (SQL) and Database Management Systems (DBMS).
  • Ensure effective disaster recovery and backup procedures are in place for critical databases.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve SQL server issues, with a focus on minimizing system disruptions.
  • Perform performance and availability tuning to optimize resource utilization and ensure smooth database operations.
  • Support Microsoft SQL on both IaaS and PaaS in Azure environments.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to provide seamless database solutions.


Required Skills:

  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge in SQL, database management systems, and system optimization techniques.
  • Microsoft SQL Server: Proven experience with Microsoft SQL Server versions ranging from 2014 to 2022.
  • Azure Expertise: Experience managing Microsoft SQL on Azure IaaS and PaaS environments.
  • SQL Troubleshooting: Expertise in identifying and solving SQL-related issues.


Desirable Skills:

  • Insurance Industry Experience: Experience in the insurance sector is highly advantageous.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills to liaise with stakeholders and other team members.
