We are currently recruiting for a dynamic and inclusive Special Educational Needs (SEN) school dedicated to supporting secondary-aged students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties. Role Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Student Support Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with young people and a strong commitment to promoting mental health and well-being. This role is essential in providing personalised support to our students, helping them overcome barriers to learning and development. Key Responsibilities: Student Support: Provide one-on-one and group support to students with SEMH needs, helping them manage their emotions and behaviour in a positive way. Mentorship: Act as a mentor and positive role model, encouraging students to develop confidence, resilience, and self-esteem. Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, SEN coordinators, and other staff to create and implement individualised support plans for students. Interventions: Develop and deliver mental health interventions and activities tailored to the needs of each student. Monitoring: Track and report on student progress, providing feedback to the wider team and contributing to the development of strategies to enhance student well-being. Environment: Help maintain a safe and supportive learning environment that promotes mental and emotional health.Requirements: Qualifications: Relevant qualifications in mental health, psychology, social work, or a related field are preferred but not essential. Experience: Previous experience working with young people with SEMH difficulties in an educational or therapeutic setting. Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students and staff. You will also need to have excellent behaviour management skills as this can often be a challenging environment. Attributes: Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the mental health and well-being of young people.
