Job Description

As a key member of this successful company who provide protection solutions for material handling vehicles and equipment operating in hazardous areas, the Operations Manager has responsibility for leading a team of 4 expert Managers to meet the business objectives of cost, on time delivery, safety, quality and competitiveness.


To work effectively and knowledgeably with the Management team, you will have experience of managing Operations in a low volume, engineering or manufacturing industry, with sound understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering, ideally with a technical qualification, or proven experience in a technical organisation.


The Operations Manager covers EHS, Engineering, Quality, Production, Procurement and Logistics to ensure all activities operate effectively and in compliance with legal and contractual obligations, including working within ISO9001 and ISO14001 standards.


You will define business unit specific performance KPIs to monitor operational success against overall business objectives, supporting implementation actions, instigating and leading projects to ensure continual improvement and productivity using best practice and lean principles across a department of 75 people.


Your leadership skills will ensure motivation to support a high performing team, carrying out appraisals, reviews and producing training and development plans.


Essential:

  • Experience as an Operations Manager within a low volume, engineering, or manufacturing industry.
  • Proven track record of productivity and process improvements.
  • Strong financial and business-related experience including commercial appreciation.
  • Experience of managing continuous improvement and change management programmes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to plan and organise effectively.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and compliance in a manufacturing environment
