Civil Designer

We are seeking a skilled Civil Engineer to join our team, specialising in building foundation design. The ideal candidate will work closely with project managers, architects, and construction teams to ensure the structural integrity and feasibility of foundation systems for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. You will play a key role in designing and drafting foundation layouts, conducting site assessments, and ensuring compliance with all relevant building codes and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design & Drafting:
• Develop detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings for building foundation systems, including slab, pile, and raft foundations.
• Utilize CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, or similar) to create accurate designs and blueprints.
• Coordinate design changes and updates based on client and project requirements.
• Site Assessment:
• Conduct on-site assessments, geotechnical surveys, and analysis to evaluate soil conditions and foundation requirements.
• Collaborate with geotechnical engineers and surveyors to gather essential data for design.
• Structural Calculations:
• Perform structural analysis and calculations to ensure the stability and safety of foundation systems.
• Assess load-bearing capacities and ensure designs meet safety standards and building codes.
• Project Coordination:
• Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineers to ensure smooth project progression from design to construction.
• Assist in the preparation of construction documentation, specifications, and materials lists.
• Review construction plans to ensure accuracy and adherence to design.
• Compliance & Regulations:
• Ensure designs comply with all relevant building regulations, local codes, and safety standards.
• Prepare and submit necessary documentation for regulatory approval and permits.
• Stakeholder Liaison:
• Act as a technical point of contact between clients, contractors, and project teams.
• Provide engineering support during construction phases, addressing on-site issues or design modifications.

Key Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.

• Experience: Minimum 2-5 years of experience in civil engineering or structural design, particularly in building foundations.
• Proven experience with CAD design tools (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.) for foundation projects.

• Skills:
• Strong knowledge of structural engineering principles and building foundation systems.
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, or similar).
• Experience with geotechnical assessments and interpreting soil test results.
• Solid understanding of relevant building regulations and standards.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.

Desirable:

• Knowledge of 3D design software (e.g., Revit, SolidWorks).
• Experience working on residential, commercial, or industrial projects.
• Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM).
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
