Database Engineer

My client is seeking a skilled Database Engineer to support and enhance their critical database infrastructure. This role involves working on both project-based tasks and BAU support, ensuring the smooth operation, security, and efficiency of the database systems.Responsibilities:Perform database design, setup, and testing of new databases and data handling systems.Update and amend existing databases to meet evolving business needs.Monitor database efficiency and maintain data security and integrity.Develop complex query definitions to facilitate data extraction for various business functions.Support IT infrastructure, including basic administration of Unix, VMWare, Active Directory, and DNS environments.Key Skills:Proficiency in SQL and experience with database software/web applications.Experience in database configuration, builds, and administration.Experience with stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views.Strong analytical and organisational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.Hands-on experience with installing IT hardware and software.Ability to work quickly under pressure and meet deadlines.Excellent communication skills and the ability to train others.Desirable Skills:Experience with Oracle 19C.Proficiency with relational database management systems (RDBMS) such as Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Oracle.Basic Unix and Linux knowledge.Basic understanding of VMWare, Active Directory, and DNS.Knowledge of Citrix, AIX, and Storage Area Networks (SAN).Familiarity with version control systems such as Git for database code and script management.Understanding of database performance tuning and optimisation techniques.Experience in creating and managing database backups and recovery processes.Familiarity with automation tools and scripting for database management tasks.Up-to-date knowledge of technology trends and data protection regulations.Why Join?Work on innovative projects in a dynamic and collaborative environment.Hybrid working arrangement (3 Days Remote Per Week).Modern office located in the heart of Central London.Daily Lunch Allowance.Discretionary Annual Bonus.12.5% Pension Contribution.29 Days Annual Leave.Private Medical Insurance, Dental Cover, and Eye Care Cover.4x Life Assurance.Ready to Take the Next Step?
