The Recruitment Bunker are recruiting exclusively for a Head of Procurement/ Procurement Director for a leading group of companies based in Coventry.


The DRVN group are looking for an experienced individual with a deep understanding of the Automotive Engineering industry and proven success of supporting full Vehicle Programmes. You will play a pivotal role in our organisation's success by overseeing all procurement activities related to our automotive operations across the UK, EU and the USA.


You will lead a team of procurement professionals, ensuring that the sourcing and supply chain processes are efficient, cost-effective, and aligned with the company's strategic goals.

Responsibilities

Strategy Development: Develop and execute a comprehensive procurement strategy aligned with the company's goals and objectives, ensuring the delivery of high-quality vehicle programmes on time and within budget. Focusing on cost reduction, quality improvement, and supplier relationship management.


Supplier Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, negotiating contracts, and managing supplier performance to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery of materials and services.


Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with support functions, engineering, production, and project management teams to understand project requirements and ensure that procurement activities support the overall project goals.


Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the procurement team, fostering a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, accountability, and professional development and ensure all company policies and procedures are adhered to. Ensure the teams deliverables are fully achieved.


Material, Planning and Logistics: Oversee the M, P & L function and management of materials required for production, ensuring that inventory levels are optimised, and materials are available as needed. Implement inventory control systems and processes to minimise waste and reduce carrying costs.


Planning and Scheduling: Develop and manage procurement schedules in coordination with production and project timelines. Ensure that materials and resources are procured in a timely manner to meet project deadlines and production needs. Adjust plans based on changes in project scope or production schedules.


Logistics Coordination: Coordinate the logistics and transportation of materials and products, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery. Manage relationships with logistics providers and address any logistical issues that arise putting solutions in place to cover the business.


Cost Management: Drive cost reduction initiatives and identify opportunities for value engineering to optimise procurement processes and achieve cost savings without compromising quality.


Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure procurement processes comply with industry regulations, legislations and standards, and manage risks related to supply chain disruptions, quality issues, and contractual obligations.


Market Analysis: Stay abreast of industry trends, market conditions, and emerging technologies to make informed decisions and drive strategic procurement initiatives. Review supplier performance, and industry developments to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.


Performance Reporting: Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to procurement activities, providing insights and recommendations for improvements to senior management. Monitor and evaluate the performance of procurement processes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.


Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, CIPS, Supply Chain Management, or a qualification within a related field
  • Extensive proven ability of working at a director level within an Automotive or Manufacturing procurement function with an ability to define processes
  • Material, Planning and Logistics management
  • Strong sense of ‘business acumen’ and analytical skills
  • Experience in supplier relationship management, negotiations, and cost down activities
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills, along with excellent stakeholder management and relationship management
  • An excellent negotiator with a proven track record of successful commercial negotiations
  • Able to manage and execute complex negotiations
  • Ability to demonstrate high organisational skills and continually focus on attention to detail and continuous improvement
  • Evidence of meeting deliverables in a fast-paced working environment
  • Knowledge of sustainability and ethical procurement practices
  • Strong interpersonal skills and team-centric leadership skills
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Decisive, dynamic, pro-active, and assertive qualities
  • IT literate – Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Good knowledge of NPI
  • MRP/ERP system experience
  • Must have IDLR/Full Rights to Work in UK - Sponsorship or Work Permits will not be accepted/ provided.
