Job Summary:
The Director of Engineering will be responsible for overseeing the engineering department, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality software products and services. This role involves strategic planning, resource management, and collaboration across departments. Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Strategy:
- Lead, mentor, and manage a diverse team of engineers, including team leads and managers.
- Develop and implement strategic initiatives to align the engineering team with company goals.
- Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and accountability within the engineering department.
Technical Oversight:
- Oversee the design, development, and deployment of software solutions, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability.
- Collaborate with product management, design, and other stakeholders to define technical requirements and product roadmaps.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and processes to enhance productivity and product quality
Project Management:
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and with high quality.
- Manage the allocation of resources to meet project deadlines and business priorities.
- Establish best practices, coding standards, and development processes
Team Development:
- Recruit, hire, and retain top engineering talent.
- Identify and address skill gaps within the team and provide professional development opportunities.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
Budget and Resource Management:
- Manage departmental budgets, including software, hardware, and staffing costs.
- Optimize resource allocation and ensure cost-effective delivery of engineering solutions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience managing and scaling engineering teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum) and best practices.
