Job Title – Senior SME - Digital Network & SecurityLocation- Birmingham, EnglandDuration- Permanent Job Description:Job RoleSenior SME - Digital Network & SecurityPurposeThe networks support team provides services to a wide range of customers across all sectors. Each team member can support multiple customers. Key ResponsibilitiesAction, update and resolve logged support incidents in line with SLA commitments.Carry out regular system checks within required timescale.Undertake appropriate system housekeeping activities.Participate in a rota for out-of-hours support.Deploy approved system changes. Produce and update support documentation.Produce regular reports.Management and administration of backup systemsProvide support for Business Continuity activitiesEssential Skills & Experience(Technical)In depth knowledge and extensive experience in the design, management, and support networks in customer Data Centres or Cloud environmentsExtensive experience and knowledge of network security devices and configuration (Cisco ASA, CheckPoint, Palo Alto, Fortinet or similar)In-depth knowledge of VPN technologies (Cisco, CheckPoint, Palo Alto)Extensive knowledge of network switches (Meraki, Cisco, Aruba)Core network skills to include, routing (OSPF, BGP, MPLS, etc), switching (VLANS, STP, Stacking, etc)Strong understanding of corporate LAN and WAN data networksKnowledge of WAF (Cloudflare, Azure)Essential Skills & Experience(Non-Technical)Commitment to delivering a quality service.Excellent communicator, able to articulate issues and solutions to customer, third party and internal contacts, both written and verballyAble to take responsibility for tasks and see them through to satisfactory conclusion, even when this requires support from other people / teams.Ability to prioritise / reprioritise effectively and develop contingency plans.Able to work to agreed standards and practices.Can identify broken process and draft solutions.Understands customer needs as well as service commitments and can deliver to them.Able to produce high quality documentation Experience of a Service Desk or remote customer support role with knowledge of ITIL methodologies desirableGood knowledge of Microsoft Visio and experience creating network documentation.Experience operating in a change control and configuration management environment.Desirable Skills / Experience / QualificationsAzure (AZ-700/AZ-104) or AWS Certification (Certified Advanced Networking)CCNP certification or equivalent experienceExperience supporting Meraki wireless networks.Experience of Virtual Data Centre networking e.g., Amazon AWS & AzureExperience using network management and monitoring toolsKnowledge of IDS/IPS, RSA, TACACS, ISO27001/PCIUnderstanding and experience of VoIP technologiesCurrent UK Driving licence
