PHP Developer, Back End Developer – SQL Queries
Location: Leeds City Centre
Salary: £30-35k DOE
Job Type: Full-time, Hybrid working 3 days per week in the office
We are partnered with an innovative, fast-growing software start up based in Leeds who are looking for a PHP Developer to join their growing team. The business has an exciting roadmap ahead and are looking for passionate people to help bring fresh ideas and inspiration to their journey!
Role Purpose
This role is perfect for someone who has had a love for technology, is tech-savvy, and eager to contribute to innovative projects. You will help develop and maintain server-side web applications, ensuring consistency and performance in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain functional, reliable, and scalable PHP-based web applications.
- Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
- Write and optimise SQL queries to work with large datasets and improve application performance.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle (design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance).
- Maintain LAMP server configurations and perform basic server administration tasks such as applying security patches.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and enhance existing code to improve performance and security.
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies and security best practices.
Requirements;
- Ideally you will have some commercial experience as a PHP Developer
- Good understanding of object-oriented PHP
- Familiarity with the full web development process (design, development, testing, and deployment)
- Proficiency in writing and optimizing SQL queries
- Basic understanding of front-end technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, and JQuery
- Experience working with LAMP installations (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP)
- Passionate about technology, with a strong desire to learn and grow
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Team player with strong communication skills and a proactive attitude
