Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

New product development, to ensure products are designed, developed and tested in line with customer requirement of standard and certification.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible of the product journey & lifecycle being taken into account during the development process.
  • Robust product & performance specification that also fits with latest industry standards & regulations.
  • Delivery of standard product design, bespoke product design and NPD stage gate processes.
  • Follow a robust design release and engineering change process.
  • FMEA process to improve the integrity within the design of new & modified products to ensure product designs meet specification requirements and to enable consistency of design for manufacture.
  • VAVE & Lean techniques to deliver on the right balance of quality, cost & speed to market on every project.
  • Move to a modular design framework.
  • Ensure the correct processes are followed to support Change Management.
  • Lead the Team in identifying and incorporating best practice design principles so they form the start point in every project.


KEY OUTPUTS

  • Detailed designs to meet customer requirements.
  • 3D Models released in Solid works and data into driveworks for all products.
  • Ensure product availability in line with sales and works orders in Netsuite.
  • Ensure product design is compliant, robust and fit for purpose to validate all products to latest regulations.
  • Communication of intent through APQP process to key stakeholders.
  • Ensure all design documents are complete and available for production.
  • Administer engineering change control process.
  • Approve supplier request for engineering approval.


KEY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE

  • Proven mechanical product design capabilities.
  • Proficient with the operation of 3D Design package operation, preferably Solid Works and driveworks.
  • Proficient in the use and facilitation of quantitative value analysis and FMEA studies.
  • Capability to operate Finite Element Analysis simulations.
  • Good communication and team working.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical team members.
  • The ability to find creative solutions to complex engineering problems.
  • Analytical thinker.
  • Understands latest industry standards & regulations.
