We have an opportunity for an experienced Project Manager with demonstrable experience running European Commission projects to join the dynamic and international team at the ELIXIR Hub in Hinxton near Cambridge, UK.
This role's main purpose will be to provide PM capacity for implementing our flagship EC project, the European Genomic Data Infrastructure project. These activities are expected to last until 31/12/2026.
As a member of the ELIXIR Project Management Office, you will support the PIs and Scientific Leads under the supervision of the Ho PMO. You will work closely with the PMO Manager, ELIXIR PIs, Project Managers, Technical Coordinators, External Relations and the Operations team, and colleagues at the 24 national ELIXIR Nodes and other project partners throughout Europe as well as the European Commission officers monitoring the implementation of the project.
This is a dynamic role, and you will have the chance to actively contribute to the further development of good project management practices and strong project management capabilities within the ELIXIR Hub and wider ELIXIR organisation.
- Playing an active role ensuring that project deadlines, targets and objectives are successfully achieved by providing support, pro-active management and guidance to work-package leaders and partners;
- Contributing to the day-to-day management of project risks and opportunities including managing project performance indicators and risk register;
- Being responsible for the planning and budgeting processes, assembling and analysing metrics and outcomes, and ensuring that all reporting requirements are met;
- Managing changes in the large consortium;
- Effectively and proactively communicating operational outcomes, risks, and ongoing processes to the ELIXIR Project Managers;
- Representing ELIXIR, in interactions with internal and external stakeholders
- A University degree, preferably in life sciences, computer science, engineering or another quantitative discipline or demonstrable experience on running EC funded grants
- Extensive knowledge of managing all aspects of EC projects (technical delivery, use of resources, reporting, communications, risk, opportunities, issues)
- Ability to evolve and adapt to the continuous improvement in processes methodologies and technologies being used by the ELIXIR Hub
- Ability to lead, organise and independently manage delivery within a multidisciplinary, collaborative team environment
- Experience in handling deadlines and a heavy workload by actively managing priorities
- Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail
- Experience working in a team to deliver exceptional results
- A high level of literacy with excellent verbal and written English
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and G Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
- Experience in project management of EC (H2020) and IMI (IMI2) grants
- Active certification in Project Management e.g. PMP, Prince, PM2
