Learning Support Assistant Location: York, North Yorkshire Start Date: ASAP Salary: £83 - £100 per day Contract Type: Full-Time GSL Education are seeking Learning Support Assistants to work at a leading institution in York, North Yorkshire, starting as soon as possible. This role involves providing 1:1 support to SEN students within our higher education programs. This college offers Student Support Services, which seeks to provide unbiased information, counsel, and direction on a wide range of services. Students with a variety of SEND requirements, including EHCPs, are supported by their inclusive services team. The institution offers courses in a variety of subjects, including engineering, motorsports, horticulture, floral design, outdoor adventure sports, veterinary nursing, sport coaching and fitness and many more. Learning Support Assistant Responsibilities: Supporting primary students with a range of special educational needs, including autism, learning difficulties, speech, language, and communication needs and social, emotional, and mental health needs. Provide tailored support to SEN students, helping them with academic tasks, study strategies, and navigating the college environment. Work closely with lecturers and course leaders to implement personalized learning plans that meet the specific needs of each student. Provide emotional and social support to students, helping them to build confidence and resilience in a higher education setting.  Adhere to college safeguarding policies and procedures, ensuring the safety and well-being of all students. Learning Support Assistant Requirements: A degree in education, psychology, social work, or a related field is essential. Proven experience supporting students with SEN, particularly in a higher education setting, is highly desirable. A solid understanding of various SEN conditions, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Dyslexia, ADHD, and other learning difficulties. Be compassionate, caring, and have a genuine desire to help overcome students’ barriers. Hold a DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
