LEAD INFORMATION Job Title Mechanical Engineer Site location St Helens Responsible to Production Director Purpose of the role Responsible for the tooling and mechanical maintenance engineering of our clients mouldings mill. Assisting the workshop and the production floor with repairs. As well as monitoring and creating a preventative maintenance plan. Client brief Our client is one of the largest independent wooden mouldings manufacturers in the UK supplying independent and national merchant customers across the UK. Multimillion pound investments in new machinery in recent years with a strong focus on growth and the development of innovative design ideas. KEY INFORMATION Reason for vacancy Increased demand Contract Permanent Salary - £35,000 - £40,000 per annum (depending on experience) Shifts Monday to Friday only, 8am-5.30pm Holidays 28 days Inc Bank Holidays Facilities Fantastic facilities on site inclusive of onsite parking, all kitchen facilities, very well kept site RESPONSIBILITIES The role - Our client is looking for an Mechanical Engineer to join their operation at their wood mill Production facility based in St Helens. As a Mechanical Engineer, the responsibilities are varied but not limited to Plan and organise maintenance of tooling and equipment, analysing and reporting on production processes, methods, schedules, downtime, cycle times, availability of machines and waste management and improve current operations wherever possible. Organise planned startup and shutdown schedules to ensure minimum loss of production time and profits. Assess and repair mechanical or electrical failures. Accurately document engineering processes, parts used and discards repairs done, and the cause of each failure Recorded. Keep engineering tools such as manual soft protocols, parts and work tools up-to-date. Communicate with the leadership team about work time, fault, repairs, and downtime working to minimize customer wait time and maximize solution efficiency. Create and monitor repair schedules, perform routine maintenance and preventative repairs on existing systems. Actively build relationship with third party companies and engineers who attend site. KEY SKILLS REQUIRED Proven experience as a mechanical engineer with two - five years experience working in manufacturing. Extensive knowledge of fault finding and has a proactive approach. Exceptional technical and problem solving skills. The ability to work independently and to collaborate with others. Be comfortable working in a manufacturing environment that sometimes can be hot or cold. Understand the importance of health and safety. TPBN1_UKTJ
