The OpportunityEDF Wholesale Market Services (WMS) is a core business line within the EDF UK Customers Business that is at the centre of helping Britain achieve Net Zero. It provides industry leading wholesale market services to EDF’s supply and generation business units and to third party energy asset owners. The team operates in a broad and diverse range of market segments including residential & business supply, nuclear, renewable & thermal generation and storage & flexible energy. We are looking for a talented Senior Manager to lead and empower a team responsible for the commercial management, product design and product strategy for EDF’s route-to-market services related to grid connected flexible assets. These assets will be battery storage, both standalone and collocated, gas peaking plant and flexibility from renewable generators. What you’ll be doingAs the Senior Manager of Grid Scale Flexibility Products, you’ll act as the product owner, setting the vision and strategy for the relevant products in your asset classes and lead a team of Product Design Leads and Senior Product Analysts. You’ll empower the team to innovate new products, own the structuring of complex product development and track product performance of both signed and prospective customer contracts worth up to 100m. You will take accountability for pricing decisions, owning outputs of cost priced modelling and act upon this to add value to the end customer, driving innovation. Building strategic relationships with ESO is a key element of the role. You will drive product and market enhancements whilst having a clear view of market changes to build and tailor products. You’ll also work alongside technology teams to ensure products are fit for purpose and developed on time. Having set the strategic direction for your product area, you will coordinate the priorities of technological development to support the products that underpin the Grid Scale Flexibility product area. The Senior Manager will have oversight of the P&L of EDF’s grid scale flexibility portfolio and ownership of associated commercial policies and risks. Who you areWe are looking for somebody with a deep understanding of products in the Flexibility market. You’ll also have a view of market direction of travel to support setting the focus for the team and strong technical expertise in batteries, gas peakers and renewables. You’ll demonstrate excellent knowledge of the UK wholesale energy and flexibility markets, a strong commercial acumen and experience in leading and managing a team. You will drive innovation and empower your team, mentoring and developing along the way. As the Senior Manager, you’ll be highly numerical with a proven ability to apply and understand a wide variety of modelling and analytical techniques. You’ll ensure best practice is applied, but above all you’ll be able to act upon modelled outputs to add value to both customers and EDF through the innovation and design of products and solutions. If you’re a strategic thinker, you build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships and have experience in trading or markets from either a route to market provider, developer, market consultant or financial lender then we would love to hear from you!
