Major Recruitment are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to work for a highly successful water pump company. Our client, a well-established, family-run business with a rich history dating back to 1842, is seeking an experienced and highly organised individual to join their team. This full-time position offers a six-month probation period, with a permanent role for the right candidate. No weekend work Free parking and staff discount Pension scheme Uniform provided Additional benefits: company events, employee discount, sick pay Brief Overview: This role involves the fabrication, installation, and maintenance of pumping systems across both commercial and domestic environments. Main Responsibilities: As a Pump Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical and mechanical support, with a focus on hands-on fault finding and installation projects for pumping systems. You'll collaborate closely with the Manager, assisting from the initial quotation through to project completion, while also organizing and supporting on-site operations. Key Skills and Requirements: Expertise in mechanical support for pump installations in both commercial and domestic settings. Proficient in servicing, fault diagnosis, maintenance, and breakdown response for clean and dirty water systems. Desirable skills in TIG and MMA pipe welding on stainless steel (SS) and carbon steel (CS) pipelines. Ability to read layout drawings and P&ID diagrams, with a good understanding of control equipment (desirable). Provide technical support to both customers and colleagues. Always adhere to industry standards. Assist other trades when necessary. Manage projects from start to finish, ensuring all paperwork is accurately maintained. Assist the Manager with various duties as required. Participate in emergency callout rota (weekend/evening) with other engineers. Working knowledge of lifting operations and pipework installations (desirable). Qualifications and Experience: NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Plant & Systems Pipework, or a minimum of 2 years' relevant experience. CSCS card (desirable).
