We can offer you: * A comprehensive induction into the community service followed by a local induction to introduce you to the role * Car lease scheme *T&C’s apply * Flexible working options * Annual travel card loan * Training, support and development in your career Job Overview We are seeking an experienced, innovative, and passionate Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) to lead a school-based communication and dysphagia service for Children and Young People (CYP) with severe learning difficulties (SLD), including profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD). The post holder will collaborate with school staff and the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to deliver a high-quality service to CYP and their families. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in delivering a range of communication interventions (including AAC) and possess knowledge and skills in paediatric dysphagia equivalent to level C or above of the RCSLT dysphagia competencies. Main duties of the job * Specialist Assessment and Intervention: Provide highly specialist assessment, diagnosis, and intervention for CYP with complex needs, including dysphagia (eating, drinking, and swallowing disorders) and speech, language, and communication needs. Support parents, school staff, and other professionals in all aspects of client management, with liaison with the MDT being integral to the role. * Legal and Professional Responsibilities: Understand and meet professional and legal SEND responsibilities as outlined in the Children and Families Act 2014. Contribute to statutory assessments of special educational needs and deliver SLT provision as specified in CYP’s Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). * Professional Accountability: Maintain accountability for your professional actions, recognizing your professional boundaries and seeking advice as appropriate. * Clinical Supervision and Management: Provide highly specialist clinical supervision, line management, and peer review to other SLTs and students. Support the training and development of junior dysphagia therapists within the team. * Service Development: Contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to clinical care, evidence-based practice, care pathways, and outcome development within individual teams and the broader service. * Training Delivery: Deliver training to staff, including specific in-service training across various settings to a variety of audiences, such as parents and school staff. * Collaboration: Liaise with colleagues across a range of statutory and non-statutory agencies.
