Senior Technical Author

(Contract – Outside IR35) Policy Writer – Financial Security Location: Fully Remote Employment Type: Contract Outside IR35 Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual or firm to develop, draft, and present a comprehensive suite of policies and customer journeys. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and in collaboration with various stakeholders, including presenting and obtaining approval from the Board and ensuring compliance with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) regulations. Key Responsibilities: Develop and write clear, detailed, and compliant policies in accordance with legal, regulatory, and organizational standards. Ensure alignment with FCA guidelines, General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and industry best practices. Present policies and associated documentation to the Board and key stakeholders for review and approval. Provide guidance on implementation and integration of policies into the organization. Collaborate with relevant departments to ensure that all policies are fit for purpose and support operational resilience. Key Deliverables: The candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering the following policies and customer journey documents: Data Policies: Data Model Guidance Document and Communications Data Classification and Encryption Policy GDPR Policy Data Migration/Transfer Process Data Cleansing Protocol Data Breach Policy Cybersecurity and IT Risk Policies: Cybersecurity Policy Potential Exceptions Handling Policy Operational Resilience/Risk Policy Communication and Customer Interaction Policies: Communications Policy (including social media) Complaints Policy Vulnerable Customers Policy Financial, Risk, and Governance Policies: Conduct Risk Policy Financial Crime Policy Consumer Duty Policy Conflicts of Interest Policy Reputational Risk Policy Governance Arrangements Outsourcing Policy (SYSC 8) Investment Asset Firm Segmentation Risk Policy Assets of Fair Value Policy Reporting Policy Claim Legitimacy Policy Required Skills and Experience: Proven experience in policy writing within a regulated financial services environment, ideally with experience in FCA-related frameworks. Strong understanding of legal, regulatory, and risk management requirements, including GDPR, FCA SYSC, and Consumer Duty. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to senior stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines. Experience drafting policies for financial services, insurance, or investment firms is highly desirable. Preferred Qualifications: Strong knowledge of FCA regulations and financial services compliance. Previous experience in policy creation related to data management, cybersecurity, and financial crime is a plus.
