Job Requirements / Description

Business Analyst

RCN UK HQ (London) or Cardiff Office with hybrid working (40%)
35 hours, Full-time permanent

Salary range per annum £47745 to 53934

There is more to the RCN than you might think. We're a trade union with a membership of over half a million nurses, midwives, nursing support workers and students. We support their practice, represent them, lobby on their behalf, and develop them. We exist to make a positive difference - to the working lives of our members and ultimately to standards in patient care.

Our employees are drawn from many walks of life - we are nurses, marketers and communicators, administrators, IT and change professionals, policy and finance experts, lawyers together we are so much more. We couldn't do what we do without our people.

We're accredited with Investors in People Silver Standard. Our people are our greatest asset, and we want people who can contribute to our purpose in line with our values.

As a Business Analyst (BA) you will be joining the RCN Project Management Office (PMO), working with a core team of experts in delivering change and project / programme management.

Business Analysts at the RCN are essential in bringing this clarity of focus and shared understanding. We clarify and articulate our processes and ways of working, the scope of projects and programmes, the benefits and impact of improvement, and requirements and priorities for delivery.

Our team play a significant role in engagement with colleagues across the RCN on their operational and strategic plans. We identify and investigate areas of dependency, uncertainty, and concern. We hold the golden thread between the College's vision, strategic priorities and projects of change - ensuring it can be followed, and our progress communicated.

The role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work with ambiguity and challenge. This is not a role where we can work through a concise backlog of work, where the data and measures are clear, or even where we understand the variation and nuance in our processes. As such, an aptitude for selecting (or creating) the right tools and techniques for engagement and collaboration to elicit information from the College is key.

A dedicated and talented professional, you will use your skills, insight, and enthusiasm to support the College and ensure we collectively deliver the right change, at the right time, for the right reasons.

As well as an inquisitive and analytical mind, you'll have an in-depth knowledge and experience of supporting organisations to deliver change.

You'll be skilled in developing and selecting the right tools and techniques to articulate need and solve problems - employing the most appropriate methods to engage diverse customers and stakeholders. Whether that be documenting complexity, describing service and organisational structures, identifying risk or proposing options for solutions.

Comfortable working with autonomy, you will engage varied stakeholders across the diverse sections and competing priorities of the organisation. The ability to translate complex information and varied need into tangible understanding and actionable insight will be a key area of expertise.

With excellent documentation and communication skills, you will have proven experience in productively challenging understanding and clarifying aspirations.

You will have solid experience of bringing focus and benefit to colleagues - from initial conversations exploring an idea or issue, through to implementation of change, retrospection and lessons learned.

To succeed at the Royal College of Nursing all you need to do is think bigger, better and brighter. And with an attitude like that, anything's possible.

What we offer you

We expect you to look after your customers. And we expect you to be rewarded for it. We offer an impressive range of benefits, a broad range of learning development opportunities and an award-winning health and wellbeing programme. We are a diverse organisation and understand everyone has different needs and many of our employees enjoy flexible working enabling them to deliver results whilst having a good work life balance. Our hybrid working model allows for up to 60% of your working time to be carried out from home. At least 40% of your working time will be spent working face-to-face with members, staff or other key College stakeholders.
