The ideal post-holder will collaborate on the implementation of processes to identify and measure waste at Mackle Petfoods sites in Moy and Moygashel. The successful applicant will be tasked with actioning waste reduction initiatives to work towards the achievement of sustainability targets. The Waste Reduction Officer will be positioned within the Sustainability Team and work closely with Production, Purchasing, Engineering and Finance. Key Responsibilities for this role: Identify waste streams on-site throughout the production process. Develop, implement and manage a system of measuring waste produced during manufacturing process, analysing data from across the business to identify areas of improvement to reduce waste while increasing production yields. Measuring the value of waste. Assist with the design and implementation of environmental management systems. Build good working relationships with production teams to train, educate and engrain the culture of waste reduction. Action waste minimisation, recycling, and other waste management initiatives to enable Mackle Petfoods to meet targets and make progress on our Net Zero Journey. Contribute to ensuring the business fulfils legal requirements on waste and environmental management, and help measure Scope 3 emissions. Monitor the destination of all waste to ensure it meets sustainability goals. Support waste management activities and liaise with service providers and maintain documentation as requested. Contribute to the set up and measurement of KPIs to measure ESG performance. Contribute to company policy implementation for health, safety and wellbeing to ensure safety first behaviours. Any other duties as reasonably requested aligned to the job role. Essential Criteria; Third level qualification (achieved or due to graduate in 2024) in a relevant subject Ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of and commitment to environmental management Work experience in a similar role Highly organised with excellent interpersonal skills Evidence of effective planning, organisation and time management abilities Skilled in the use of the Microsoft Office suite Able to work flexibly as required to meet business needs Self-motivated with an ability to work independently as well as within a team Excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely with other departments Capable of identifying problems, assist with developing solutions and ensuring solutions are implemented. Valid full driving licence Valid passport Desirable Criteria; FMCG knowledge, ideally production based Commercial awareness around various waste disposal routes Understanding of ISO 14001 Experience with working with online data capture systems Skills: Organised Excellent communication skills Excellent time management Benefits: staff sales Private health insurance Well-being initatives Electric car charging point
