Direct Medics is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join our team on a permanent basis. This role is critical in overseeing the financial operations of the organization, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and providing strategic financial insights to guide decision-making. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving financial strategies and implementing initiatives that align with the company’s long-term goals. Additionally, the Financial Controller will lead the finance team and oversee project-based work to improve processes and enhance financial performance. Key Responsibilities: • Manage the preparation of the company’s financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance. • Oversee the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing detailed reporting and financial analysis to senior management. • Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to support the company’s long-term objectives and growth plans. • Lead the implementation of financial strategies that drive profitability and efficiency across the organization. • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards, developing and implementing robust internal controls to mitigate risks. • Coordinate with external auditors during the annual audit process, ensuring timely and accurate completion. • Analyse financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement, driving actionable insights. • Support the senior management team in strategic financial planning and analysis, helping to shape the company’s financial future. • Manage and lead the finance team, providing mentorship, fostering professional development, and ensuring high performance. • Oversee financial projects aimed at improving systems, processes, and operational efficiencies, with a focus on driving continuous improvement. Requirements: Qualifications and Experience: • Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent). • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar financial management role, with a proven track record in managing financial projects and implementing strategic initiatives. • Strong knowledge of financial regulations, compliance standards, and internal controls. • Demonstrated experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes. • Experience providing strategic financial advice and working closely with senior management teams. Skills and Competencies: • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into strategic insights. • Strong leadership and team management abilities, with experience in leading finance projects. • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills. • Effective communication skills, capable of conveying complex financial information clearly and concisely. • Experience in project management, particularly in driving improvements and implementing financial strategies. • Proficiency in accounting software/ QuickBooks / Sage and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
