Job Summary We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Biomedical Scientist in the Haematology Laboratory in East Anglia with our NHS client. Ideal candidates are either top-tier Band 7 professionals seeking advancement or current senior BMSs. We seek an enthusiastic and motivated individual to deliver a high-quality service, handling over half a million requests annually in our ISO 15189 and HCPC/IBMS accredited lab. Main Duties and Skills Required You will manage the day-to-day operations of the haematology laboratory, collaborating with the service management team and senior BMS colleagues in haematology, coagulation, and blood transfusion. Responsibilities include staff training, performance appraisals, and HR duties, necessitating strong communication skills. The lab operates on a 24/7 shift basis, and you will join the out-of-hours rota once trained. You may occasionally deputise for the haematology operational manager and must be committed to high service standards and staff training, with a strong understanding of ISO 15189:2012 compliance. Person Specification Qualifications: Essential: HCPC registration MSc or equivalent level 7 qualification Evidence of continuing professional development Post-registration specialty training per IBMS guidelines Desirable: Formal management training Awareness of current pathology issues Experience: Essential: Significant post-registration experience in a laboratory discipline Proficiency in biomedical science theory and practice Experience with quality control, health and safety, and accreditation standards Desirable: Supervisory experience Understanding of lab accreditation (e.g., ISO 15189) Additional Criteria: Essential: Team leadership and workload management skills Manual dexterity for specialized techniques Strong problem-solving and organizational skills Reliability and punctuality Flexibility to work shifts and participate in the Duty Manager rota Desirable: Evidence of service improvement initiatives Project management experience Certificate of Sponsorship: We welcome applications from candidates requiring Skilled Worker sponsorship in the UK.
