This is an exciting opportunity at a time of significant and fascinating change within the energy sector.As an Innovation Project Manager, you will play a key role in our Net Zero transition, working with internal and external stakeholders to understand the challenges faced and identify and deliver innovation projects that align with our existing innovation strategy whilst delivering explicit value for our customers. Innovation focus areas for the current RIIO-ED2 electricity distribution price control period are outlined within our Innovation Strategy. Some examples of the range of existing innovation projects within Northern Powergrid include the flagship Community DSO Project, the Boston Spa Energy Efficiency Trial, Artificial Forecasting and Scenario Analysis for Non­ Domestic Network Decarbonisation (SANND).This is an exciting opportunity to join our growing team, working at the leading edge of thinking in the electricity industry, at a time when it is on the path to net zero. Apply now and we’ll be in touch.Key Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be accountable for:•Developing a strong stakeholder relationships with one or more of our internal function teams.•Building a clear understanding of challenges and priorities in the energy transition and lead the development of strategic innovation activity to support these.•Working closely with a broad range of internal and external subject matter experts and innovators to design and deliver impactful innovation projects that align with Ofgem’s guidance and Northern Powergrid’s ED2 Business Plan.•Contributing to a strong team culture within NPG innovation actively supporting the coordination and showcasing of innovation activities across the business and industry.•The full-cycle development and management of innovation projects, with a particular focus on Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF); project design, bid writing and application to delivery, reporting and project closedown.•Liaising with, and managing project partners and third-party contractors, where applicable, along with associated engagement and travel.•Project management and governance including:oDay to day running of projects.oManaging project deliverables.oReporting and benefits capture.oProject finances.•Project reporting and dissemination of project learning and outputs with the wider energy innovation community.Key Competencies • Strong planning and organising skills including programme and project management.• Highly effective relationship manager - influential with internal and external stakeholders.• Strong commercial skills particularly in bid production• Strong written and spoken communication skills – clear, concise, engaging and persuasive - ability to produce high quality bids and plans.• Ability to convert strategic priorities into actionable innovation portfolios.• Strong analytical skills to interpret information and apply judgement to decision making.Qualifications and Attributes Essential Qualifications and Experience • Level 4 e.g. HNC in Electrical engineering (or suitable STEM subject).• Experience managing and delivering projects in an energy/STEM discipline.• Energy sector experience and knowledge of the decarbonisation energy transition.• Full UK driving licence.Desirable Qualifications and Experience • Relevant third level degree in project management or equivalent third level qualification.• Have worked or are currently working in a Distribution Network Operator (DNO).• Previous work within energy industry innovation projects.Visit northernpowergrid.com/careers to find out more about this and other career opportunities.?Applicants are considered on the basis of their suitability for the post irrespective of sex, marital status, sexual orientation, gender re-assignment, race, age or disability, in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.
