Senior Building Surveyor
Birmingham, UK
£50,000 - £75,000 + hybrid working + bonus

Role Overview:
They are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Building Surveyor to join their Birmingham office. The successful candidate will be an MRICS-qualified professional with a strong background in building surveying. Ideally, you will have experience in managing education projects, from primary schools to higher education institutions. You will be responsible for providing a comprehensive range of building surveying services, including project management, contract administration, condition surveys, and defect analysis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage building surveying projects from inception to completion, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
  • Conduct detailed building surveys, condition surveys, and defect analysis, providing expert advice and recommendations to clients.
  • Manage and administer contracts, including JCT and NEC, ensuring compliance with all contractual and statutory requirements.
  • Provide professional advice on building pathology, building regulations, and statutory requirements.
  • Oversee and manage refurbishment, alteration, and maintenance projects, particularly within the education sector.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports, including feasibility studies, project briefs, and tender documentation.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Mentor and support junior members of the team, fostering a collaborative and supportive working environment.
  • Stay abreast of industry developments, particularly in education sector standards and regulations, and ensure compliance with the latest best practices.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • MRICS (Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) qualification is essential.
  • Proven experience as a Building Surveyor, with a minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing education sector projects is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of building contracts, regulations, and construction standards.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Proficiency in using industry-specific software and tools.
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach, with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Full UK driving license and willingness to travel to various project sites as required.
