Senior Structural Project Engineer

Mcbains are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to help lead the delivery of our structural design services across a range of varied and interesting projects. This will be a challenging and exciting role which will be well suited to a highly motivated and organised team player.

Key Responsibilities

1. Support development of new client opportunities by supporting bid and business development activities
2. Management of project delivery activities with client
3. Develop strategies for increasing project profitability through scope management/additional fees and resource allocations
4. Preparation of fee estimates and monitoring of expenditure
5. Identification and systematic management of risk and change
6. Maintaining communications with stakeholders and the project team
7. Ensuring compliance with regards to McBains policies and procedures
8. Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools, and techniques
9. Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors

Skills & Requirements

1. A degree (or equivalent) in Civil or Structural Engineering
2. CEng status with chartered or fellow membership of the ICE or IStructE
3. A minimum of 8 years post graduate experience working in structural engineering teams
4. Proven experience of managing and leading structural engineering teams
5. Proven experience of undertaking a client facing role and stakeholder management
6. A good understanding of all relevant standards and Codes of Practice and Health and Safety Legislation within the construction industry.
7. Good understanding of Modern Methods of Construction and their practical implementation in the construction sector.
8. Good understanding of current industry-wide sustainability and Net Zero Carbon targets
9. Proven experience of implementing rigorous QC and QA procedures
10. Excellent presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written
11. Good time management skills to work across multiple projects and deadlines effectively, often under time pressures
