DescriptionThe Splunk Observability Consultant has a strong knowledge of implementing observability solutions to underpin the processes of IT organisations and business, including organisational modifications that would be required to ensure the successful adoption of the solution by the client organisation. They compile required capabilities, business and technical requirements and desired outcomes / vision into an architecture and programme definition across the appropriate solutions and accelerates project delivery by providing technical leadership during all stages of the project or programme.They provide advice to project teams on implementation approach, strategy, integration, large Enterprise deployment and adoption best practices to maximise delivery success and value realisation. This position has a 50% utilisation target and may involve travel to customer sites to perform work across the EMEA region as required.Responsibilities - The Splunk Observability Consultant will:Shape customer expectations and thoroughly align outcomes with customer requirements with focus on business valueParticipate in all aspects of the initiative from the initial strategy discussions through the delivery process, requirements gathering, design and implementationPartner with the client Project Managers and Splunk Project Managers to validate that high-level project scope, schedule, resource plan, and estimates are aligned to ensure a successful project / programme outcome.Perform configuration of the entire Splunk Observability product suite to meet the customer requirementsFacilitate appropriate workshops and other sessions as necessary to capture business and technical requirements, current and desired states, and deliver a best-practice based global architecture and implementationDefine global architecture to meet desired state vision including business, application, data, technical, integration and security architectures.Provide oversight at key milestones and manage expectations during the project implementation lifecycle.Provide technical leadership and contribute to key decision making related to new solutions and products, cross-product integrations, and product upgrades.Ensure successful delivery of desired outcomes by engaging in risk management and mitigation, and operational programme governanceEffectively build and leverage relationships within the client organisations and Splunk to ensure success.Develop strong technical champions and coaches within project teams.Mentor client team members in their area of subject matter expertiseRequirements:Bachelor’s Degree in CS or relevant technical field experience plus 3-5 years of related Observability experience.Experience leading project implementation teams and being responsible for delivery at large enterprise clients.Self-starter; demonstrates initiative and leadership across projects and within the teamConsistently delivers high quality results, including on-time quality deliverables and meeting project timelinesIdentifies and exploits future opportunities to drive additional valueProjects complete successfully (meets requirements and vision)Successfully manages stakeholder expectations through solid communication and documentationStrong leadership and interpersonal skills. Ability to interface at all levels within an organisation, technical to senior management.Continuously enhances solution knowledge and skills to further industry leadership positionAbility to process and advocate client requirements and product gaps into the development (R&D) organisation.Demonstrable experience deploying observability solutions and associated infrastructure, within both on-premise and cloud environments in large complex global enterprise environmentsConfiguration experience with Windows, Linux operating systems (bash, shell)Configuration experience with system API administration/management.Technical implementation experience defining metrics, thresholding and reporting baselines.Strong experience in analysis, design, and technical documentation.Desired Hands-on experience in at least two of each of the following areas:Familiarity with Splunk and / or other cloud monitoring tools, including APM, Infrastructure, Logs, Synthetics, and RUMObservability Platforms: Splunk, Datadog, HoneyComb, New Relic, Dynatrace.Public Cloud: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP).Containerization: Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Cloud Foundry.Development/Scripting Languages: Python, Java, JavaScript, Ruby, Perl, PHP, Go.Configuration Management: Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Chef.CI/CD Tools: Jenkins, GitLab.Preferable:Previous experience in a technical or professional services role supporting channel partners (e.g., Systems Integrators, Managed Services Providers)Experience in root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and debuggingExperience with OpenTelemetry GDIRelevant technical certifications (e.g., Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible) are beneficialSplunk is an Equal Opportunity Employer: At Splunk, we believe creating a culture of belonging isn’t just the right thing to do; it’s also the smart thing. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate.
