Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (Referral Unit) Location: Gillingham, Kent Start Date: ASAP Contract: Full-Time, Temporary/Permanent At Twenty 4 Seven Education we are seeking a compassionate and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated team at a referral unit school in Gillingham, Kent. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people with special educational needs (SEN) and challenging behaviors, many of whom have been referred due to difficulties accessing mainstream education. Key Responsibilities: * Provide tailored support to students with a range of SEN, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and other complex needs. * Work 1:1 or in small groups to assist with academic, social, and emotional development. * Implement behavior management strategies, promoting a positive and structured environment. * Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, and other professionals to develop individualized learning plans. * Encourage and motivate students to achieve their full potential, both academically and personally. * Support the wider team in fostering a safe, nurturing environment for all students. Requirements: * Previous experience working with SEN children in an educational or care setting. * A patient, empathetic, and resilient attitude. * Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with students and staff. * Knowledge of behavior management techniques and strategies to support emotional regulation. * Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations. * A passion for education and a commitment to making a positive impact on young people’s lives. Desirable: * Experience in a referral or pupil referral unit (PRU) setting. * Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, or SEN-specific training. * Team Teach or other de-escalation training (training can be provided)
