Join us as our Head of Corporate Internal & Leadership Communications

  • This highly visible role will see you supporting the design of, and leading the delivery of the Group CEO, Chair, Board, and Functional ExCo covering Finance, Risk, Audit, Group Chief Operating Office, and Strategy as well as Group-wide leadership, and corporate internal communications and engagement activity
  • You'll drive our corporate narrative across all executive and wider leadership communications, bringing strategic coordination, direction, and consistency
  • You'll provide best in class internal and change communications advice, strategy, planning, measurement, and delivery through the leadership of a team of internal communications professionals
  • The primary goal of your work will be to enable the delivery of our purpose, ambition, strategy, culture, and values

What you'll do

You'll deliver a strategic and creative bank-wide internal communications engagement plan for the Group CEO, working closely with colleagues in Corporate Affairs to ensure alignment with the CEO's external communications. You'll also be responsible for supporting the Chair and Board with the internal engagement they undertake.

Partnering with executive colleagues, you'll develop and implement internal communications strategies and plans to deliver the functions' commercial and people priorities. You'll also design and deliver a group-wide executive and wider leadership voice and engagement strategy and plan, considering our approach to thought leadership.

As well as this, you'll:

  • Drive our strategic corporate narrative ensuring all corporate internal communications including results and corporate announcements are delivered with this in mind
  • Lead, coach, and develop the team, delivering internal communications and ensuring they meet the needs of all stakeholders and customers
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the wider Corporate Affairs team and business to advise on leadership messaging on key communications projects and to ensure alignment on internal communications campaigns and projects
  • Develop close working relationships with key internal business stakeholders
  • Deliver against the agreed annual Corporate Affairs financial plan and budget, mindful of medium- and long-term requirements

The skills you'll need

We're looking for someone with strong commercial knowledge and experience of a public quoted company environment within UK financial services. You'll have strong team leadership, people management, and coaching skills, able to lead a team of internal communications business partners to deliver commercial value add to senior stakeholders.

As well as this, we're looking for:

  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing capabilities
  • A track record of devising and delivering internal communications strategies and plans for senior leaders in a large, complex organisation
  • A strategic thinker with the ability to translate strategy and plans into simple actionable steps
  • Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written with evidence of broad and varied experience of producing speeches and narratives for senior leaders
  • Knowledge of best practice tools and approaches to drive highly effective internal comms including leadership engagement, business partnering, channel management, and digital engagement
  • Budget management experience and capability
