Job Title: Accounts Assistant – Purchase Ledger Location: West Croydon, Head Office at Whitehorse Road Salary: Up to £28,000 (depending on experience) Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 17:30 (30 minutes for lunch) Start Date: October 2024 Role Overview: We are seeking an Accounts Assistant with a strong focus on Purchase Ledger to join our busy shared service accounting department. The successful candidate will assist with a range of general accounting duties across multiple branches and businesses, bringing an all-around skillset to support our accounting team. Key Responsibilities: * Post Purchase Ledger transactions using Dext and Xero Accounting Software for all group companies. * Raise disbursements in collaboration with the Logistics Manager. * Manage intercompany accounting and invoicing. * Prepare daily and weekly payment runs to suppliers. * Address supplier and internal queries related to accounting issues. * Perform general office administrative duties, including filing. * Reconcile purchase ledger-related balance sheet items monthly. * Handle charitable donations, including raising cheques as instructed. * Conduct bank reconciliations as needed. * Provide occasional support for sales ledger activities. Key Skills and Qualifications: * Experience in managing a busy Purchase Ledger function. * Strong knowledge of Dext and Xero Accounting software. * Ability to understand, investigate, and resolve account queries. * Solid understanding of Sales, Purchase, and Nominal Ledger functions and general accounts reconciliation. * Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment. * Excellent communication and teamwork skills. * Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. * Professional telephone manner.
