Group Financial Accountant

We are currently looking for a Group Financial Accountant to join The Sovini Group.

As a Group Financial Accountant, you will be expected to:

Manage and co-ordinate the Groups consolidated and entity level financial reporting requirements and processes, including preparation of annual budgets, reconciliations, closedown and statutory accounts and submission of financial statistical returns for the Group.

Manage and oversee production of accurate and timely consolidated and entity management accounts for the Group and corresponding board reporting.

Lead and review the CBS capital and development accounting programme, including managing the capitalisation of the new ERP system and future capital projects

Manage and oversee the update, maintenance, accuracy, and integrity of the Groups financial management system, including system development, report writing and database administration functions.

Assist with the system implementation of the new ERP system and support with redesign of existing processes and introduction of robust system controls

Contribute to the development of corporate and operational plans to maximise the achievement of the Groups objectives, including production of the Groups Annual Efficiency Statements.

Assist the Group Head of Financial Management to produce, implement and monitor financial plans and policies.

Contribute and assist with the Groups continuous improvement agenda, including management and provision of financial assistance for service reviews, and the benchmarking of the Groups activities

Preparation of the annual statutory accounts for all group entities with a sound financial understanding of but not limited to Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies (CBS) Act 2014 (and related group accounts regulations), FRS 102 the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland, the Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) for Registered Social Housing Providers 2018, the Accounting Direction for Private Registered Providers of Social Housing 2022 and the Charities SORP.

Support the co-ordination of the Groups External Audit, ensuring that the Group complies with its regulatory and statutory financial reporting requirements, including liaison with all internal and external stakeholders.

Liaise as appropriate with funders, regulatory body, Internal and External Auditors and other third party or voluntary partners of the Group including attendance at Board/EMT meetings as appropriate.

Manage the day-to-day operation and delivery of comprehensive Financial Management Services which are within the direct responsibility of the post holder.

Provide cover and support as and when necessary to ensure the smooth delivery of wider Finance Team services, to minimise the disruption of core services during busy periods.

Adhere with the Health and Safety at Work Act to take reasonable care of own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts and omissions.

To be successful in a Group Financial Accountant role, the skills you will need:

CCAB Qualified Accountant

Experience and knowledge of statutory/technical accounting rules/ regulations.

Experience in the production of statutory financial statements.

Sound understanding of the year-end financial closedown procedures.

Extensive financial experience at a senior level within an external audit function, RSL or large complex organisation.

Practical knowledge of consolidated budget preparation and review.

Knowledge and experience of capital and development accounting.

Demonstrable ability of producing, reviewing, co-ordinating and consolidating entity and group accounts (management and statutory) within a large multiple entity group organisation.

Experience of financial management systems, including SUN and Microsoft Dynamics

Excellent communication skills, able to communicate across multiple channels including Microsoft Teams, Face to Face and Email.

Experience or Knowledge of the below would be advantageous but not essential:

Understanding of system implementation process and monitoring of a new ERP/FMS.

Working effectively with Boards and Committees.

Knowledge and experience of producing and reviewing reconciliations.

Exposure to Business Planning and Risk Management.

Flexible and adaptive to change, influencing cultural and organisational change and challenging norms.
