Head of Engineering

Head of Engineering Location: Fully remote within the UK, expectations to visit London office every 6 months. Salary: £100,000 - £115,000 + Share scheme The following information provides an overview of the skills, qualities, and qualifications needed for this role. We are currently partnered with an accelerating startup company who are looking for a Head of Engineering to help set out their technical strategy and deliver a positive impact to the environment. The ideal person will be a hands-on ambitious leader, have a product-first mindset and the ability to make quick, impactful decisions! You will be working directly under the CEO, with a clear roadmap to grow into the future CTO. You will establish Agile and TDD environments to foster continuous innovation while maintaining team health and culture. It is also crucial that you are happy to remain hands-on in a start-up setting, driving architecture and tackling complex technical challenges within the engineering team. Your Responsibilities: Oversee the daily engineering operation, ensuring alignment across all functions in tech. Coach & mentor the engineering team. Collaborate with the leadership team to ensure product and business alignment. Advocate and implement best practices such as TDD and XP. Set out technology strategy against company vision and future roadmap, working closely with key stakeholders. Your Experience: Proven commercial experience with Java, Spring, SQL, GCP & Terraform. 3+ years managing a small engineering team. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or relevant field.
