Edgebander Operator
Our client is a successful furniture Manufacturing company, with a production site in Morley, due to continued success and growth they're looking to recruit more permanent staff to join their team.
Job Summary:
We are looking for a skilled Edgebander Operator to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will operate edgebanding machinery to build bedroom and occasional furniture according to engineering drawings and work instructions. This role requires the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a team to ensure high-quality production.
Key Responsibilities:
Machine Operation:
Set up and operate edgebanding machines to apply edging to furniture components.
Adjust machine settings based on material specifications and work instructions.
Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments to maintain safety, quality and efficiency.
Quality Control
Inspect materials before and after the edgebanding process to ensure they meet quality standards.
Identify and address any defects or issues with the edgebanding process.
Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of the edgebander to ensure optimal performance.
Team Collaboration:
Work effectively as part of a team to meet production targets and deadlines.
Communicate with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth workflow and address any challenges.
Assist in training new team members on machine operation and safety procedures.
Documentation:
Carry out pre-use checks and calibration of machine, reporting damages and defects to the Team Leader.
Accurately record production data and maintain logs of machine performance.
Report any discrepancies or deviations from engineering drawings to the Team Leader.
Safety:
Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and ensure all equipment is in safe working condition.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Proven experience as an edgebander operator or in a similar role.
- Familiarity with reading and interpreting engineering drawings and work instructions.
- Skills:
- Proficient in operating and maintaining edgebanding machines.
- Strong attention to detail and precision in the edgebanding process.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move heavy furniture components.
- Capable of standing for extended periods and performing repetitive tasks.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Vocational training or certification in woodworking or machine operation is a plus.
Work Environment:
- Fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Exposure to noise, dust, and other typical conditions of a furniture assembly line.
