Head of Finance - Global Reinsurer

Woodland Partners are delighted to be working exclusively with this Global Reinsurer in the search for their new Head of Finance. Reporting into the CFO this role is initially being offered on an 18 month FTC basis whilst the Company is going through a major transformation. There is a very high likelihood that this role will go permanent. Our client is looking to have someone on board no later than the end of October. Specific responsibilities include:Oversee and manage the team, providing guidance, direction and support, where required, to ensure staff meet their objectives. This will include, but not be limited to, recruitment, objective setting, motivating, monitoring and analysing performance, both on an ongoing basis and in conjunction with the annual appraisal and compensation/bonus process. Responsible for all annual statutory accounts from preparation through to audit, Board and filing of all regulated, service and holding companies.Responsible for all PRA submissions – Annual QRTs, Solvency and Financial Condition Report, Regulatory Supervisory Report and NSTs for all insurance companies and holding company and where relevant through audit.Responsible for all monthly, quarterly, and annual US GAAP reporting to Group.Support the preparation and delivery of Board and Audit Committee papers, as necessary.For responsibilities requiring an external audit: ensure the external audit is planned and organised. Prepared by client lists are to be agreed and communicated in advance within the organisation and managed there through.Management of VAT including preparation of returns and other indirect taxes that might arise from time to time i.e. IPT.Preparation and filing of all Company Annual Tax Returns.Management of all transfer pricing related matters. Any Office of National Statistics submissions as required from time to time. Lead and opine on all technical accounting matters that arise across the UK companies including but not limited to working with Head office on group matters.Oversight of the Finance Operations in relation to Accounts Payable, Banking, Fixed Assets.For acquisitions, support the generation and determination of acquisition accounting entries and the accompanying accounting memorandum.To be considered you must be on a maximum of 2 weeks notice and it is imperative that you have recent strong experience in the Insurance or Reinsurance markets. Ideally you will be familiar with working in a regulated environment and meeting all regulatory requirements and reports. An internationally acknowledged finance qualification is essential as is an ability to think in complex and demanding situations.
